Unbelievable

Well....

Apparently I will be getting around $2600 per year for school. Per year. What did my mom put on there that screwed me over? Well, I will say that the information I got was just a pre-FAFSA estimate. But still. Two thousand, six hundred dollars? What am I supposed to do with that? What is wrong with my FAFSA?

I'm first generation college student. I have a disability. My biological father is no longer with us. My family makes less than $30,000 a year. I could go on and on.

And the best (worst) part is that my great aunt's grandaughter LIED on her FAFSA and got her whole college paid for. Her dad actually makes upwards of $2oo,ooo a year. I don't understand. Now I have to write fifty million essays per day to try to get this BS paid for.

Thanks a lot, government. You have always been good to me. Lies.

Love--a very disappointed MICHA

  1. Myca,
Talk to Brenda. Maybe there's still something to do. Also remember that there will be merit-based scholarships after your first year--I was full scholarship without getting a dime my first year!

    Hang in there,
    Amy

  2. Uuugh. Hopefully, the real thing will be better than the estimate. The federal and state governments are all running in the red and one area that they've cut back on is money for college. Totally stinks, I know. In addition to merit-based scholarships in subsequent years, they are available for first year students as well. Most colleges are just making their final enrollment decisions now and will follow up with scholarship offers. Also, the financial aid office of individual schools can be very helpful as well. Don't give up yet.

  3. Yeah, the FAFSA came back. $1900. I got a $2000 scholarship from Kent, but now I need another $15000. I've been looking for scholarships....
